Gifts and Payments

How gifts, spraying and gift cards work, who holds the money, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong.

1. How money works on Wrapp

Wrapp is not a bank. Wrapp and FinZ are both products of FinZ Africa Limited. FinZ is not a bank either: your Wrapp account and the money in it are kept with CBN-licensed partner banks (the bank's name is shown with your account number), and FinZ's licensed payment partners collect and move the money. Wrapp shows you the gift, the page and the history.

Fees and limits are shown before you pay or withdraw. What you see on the screen at that moment is what applies.

2. Sending a gift

Guests do not need a Wrapp account to send a gift. You can pay by card or bank transfer. You may be asked for your name and an email or phone number for a receipt.

Check the celebrant and the page before you pay. Gifts are sent to the person named on the page. You must have the right to use the card or account you pay with.

You can send a gift anonymously. The celebrant will not see your name, but we still know who you are and may share it with the authorities where the law requires.

3. Receiving money

To receive cash gifts, a celebrant must verify their identity with FinZ. People under 18 cannot receive money. Account opening and verification depend on the rules of our banking partner, and money access follows your verified FinZ account, not where you live.

An event page is public as soon as it is published, but wishes and gifts open on the day of the event, in the host's timezone, and close 7 days after it. The host can open them earlier. Before the day, people can tap Remind me and we will tell them by push notification or email. Gifts sent outside the window may be declined or returned.

Card gifts can take about 24 hours to clear before they show as available. Bank transfers usually arrive faster. Delays can happen at banks and processors.

Limits on how much you can hold, receive or withdraw depend on your verification level and our banking partner. We show them to you in the app.

Withdrawals from your Wrapp account go only to a Nigerian bank account in your own name; FinZ checks the name with the bank before sending. After a PIN reset or a change to your phone or email, withdrawals pause for 24 hours.

4. Fees

Fees are shown before you confirm a gift or a withdrawal. Banks and payment processors may add their own charges, which are included in what you see.

We will tell you before we change fees. A change does not affect a payment you have already made.

5. Gift cards

Gift cards are gifts from partner brands. They do not need identity verification to receive, but where you can use them depends on the brand and its terms, and some can be redeemed only in certain places. Gift cards usually cannot be exchanged for cash.

Check the gift card's value, expiry and conditions before you buy. A brand's own terms apply when you redeem.

6. Gifts are final

Once a gift is sent it is a gift. We cannot take it back for you because you changed your mind or sent it to the wrong page. Please check before you pay.

We can help if there is a genuine problem: a payment taken twice, a failed delivery, an unauthorised payment, or a technical fault. In those cases we may refund or reverse the payment.

7. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks

If something looks wrong, contact us promptly with the date, amount and page. We will look into it and tell you what we find.

If a card payment is disputed or reversed by a bank, we may take the amount back from the celebrant's balance where we are allowed to, and we may hold related funds while we investigate.

If you raise a dispute you know to be false, we may close your account.

8. Holds, checks and the law

We and our partners must follow anti-money-laundering, sanctions and fraud rules. We may ask for more information, delay, hold, refuse or reverse a payment or withdrawal, and report to the authorities, where we think the rules require it or an account is being misused.

If you change your phone number or email, or link, unlink or change the PIN of your FinZ account, cash cannot leave your account for 24 hours. This protects you if someone else gets into your account. Gifts still arrive, and nothing is lost.

Do not use Wrapp to collect or move money from crime, scams or anything illegal.

9. Tax

You are responsible for any tax on money or gifts you receive. We do not give tax advice.
